Abilene Black Chamber has New President

Paul Lewis, a local business man, has been selected as the new President of the Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce.Lewis is the owner of Empower Solar Products. He retired from the Air Force as a 1st Sergeant. He owned a construction business for 18 years before going into the energy business. {{more}}Lewis has been active in the Chamber since 2007. He was a part of an Abilene group that went on trade mission to Belize in 2008. Paul has been back several times, he’s working on projects that will benefit the citizens of Belize, as well as Abilene. Paul also serves on the Board of the Tri-County International Chamber of Commerce in Houston, TX.The first order of business for Lewis is to make sure the MLK Banquet on January 16th is a success.Lewis hosted a dinner to thank past-president Floyd Miller for over 14 years of service as President. Miller said that he enjoyed serving as President, but he felt like it was time for him to be involved in another way. He will work in the area of Membership Development and also chairing this year’s MLK Banquet.Other officers elected were Tina Fits – Vice-President, Dee Moore – Secretary, Billy King – Treasurer, Hester Woods-Nixon – President Elect for 2013.Photo by Sienna Miller
