72nd Texas State Conference of NAACP to be held in San Antonio The annual state convention of the Texas State Conference of NAACP Branches will be in San Antonio this year, officials announced Friday. ## M: Read More ## The convention — in its 72nd year — will be held Oct. 9 through Oct. 11 at the Hilton Airport Hotel, with newly appointed NAACP National President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous as keynote speaker. Others speaking at the state National Association for the Advancement of Colored People convention include Dallas District Attorney Craig Watkins, the first African American to hold the position, and Kemba Smith of the Kemba Smith Foundation, a charitable organization whose goals include educating the public about the devastating social, economic and political consequences of current drug policies. The three-day convention will feature numerous events and public seminars, such as health and wellness workshops and informational sessions for Texas veterans and students seeking financial education. Organizers of the convention also plan to hold a community health fair during the convention
