2014 Project Re-Directory is a Success!

ABILENE, Texas – The 2014 Project Re-Directory Phone Book Recycling Contest hosted by Keep Abilene Beautiful and the City of Abilene’s Environmental Recycling Center has come to a close, and the result was a success. More than 14,424 phone books were recycled! $100 will be awarded by Keep Abilene Beautiful to Reagan Elementary School for collecting 4,652 books. 14 local Elementary, Early Childhood and Head Start campuses participated. The objective of the contest is to encourage and educate youth about the importance of conservation and preservation of valuable landfill space through collection and recycling of old or unused phone books.Project Re-Directory would not be possible without the assistance of the City of Abilene’s Environmental Recycling Center and TXU Energy.
